Google’s Gemini AI is coming to your TV

Google is taking a big step forward in bringing its powerful AI technology into our living rooms. On Monday, the company officially announced that it is introducing Gemini for Google TV, allowing TV owners to have free-flowing, natural conversations with the AI right from their couch.

This launch isn’t just a small update. When fully rolled out, Gemini’s expansion to Google TV will bring Google’s AI assistant to more than 300 million active devices running Google TV and other Android TV OS platforms worldwide. That’s a huge number of TVs, streaming devices, and smart screens that are about to get a lot smarter.

In terms of TV-related features, Google suggests several exciting use cases. For example, Gemini can help people with different tastes find something they’ll both enjoy watching. If you’ve missed a season of your favorite show, Gemini can catch you up quickly by summarizing what happened. If you can’t remember the name of a movie, you can just describe it and Gemini will help you find it. You can even ask about reviews or ratings to decide whether a title is worth watching.

But Gemini goes beyond entertainment. Because it’s Google’s most advanced AI assistant, you can ask it any type of question just like you would on your smartphone or computer.

Families might use Gemini to help kids with homework, brainstorm school projects, or even plan their next vacation. Individual users can ask it to teach them a new skill, learn a language, get step-by-step cooking instructions, or explore fun ideas in real time all without leaving the TV screen.

Google has also clarified that the arrival of Gemini doesn’t mean you’re losing the classic Google Assistant commands. The familiar features you already use like checking the weather, turning on smart home devices, or opening apps will still work as before. Gemini is simply an additional, smarter layer on top of that.

The rollout begins today with the launch on the TCL QM9K series, giving early adopters the first taste of what a truly AI-powered TV experience feels like.

Later this year, Gemini will expand to even more devices, including:

Google TV Streamer

Walmart onn 4K Pro

2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX models

2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models

Google also confirmed that new features and improvements will be added over time, meaning this is just the beginning of AI-powered TV experiences.
